Draft — to be reviewed by a lawyer before launch. These terms describe how Stashkey is intended to work. They may change before release.
Terms of use
These terms are an agreement between you and Stashkey for using the Stashkey apps, website and services. By using Stashkey you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Stashkey.
The most important point
We cannot recover a lost master password. Stashkey is designed so that we never know your master password and cannot decrypt your vault. If you lose both your master password and your recovery key, your data cannot be recovered by you, by us or by anyone else. Keep your recovery key somewhere safe.
Your account
- You are responsible for your master password, your recovery key and the devices you sign in on.
- Give us a working email address so we can reach you about your account.
- You must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live.
Your data
What you store in Stashkey belongs to you. We do not claim any rights to it, and because it is encrypted on your device we cannot read it. You can export your vault in the open KDBX format at any time. We recommend keeping your own backup.
Acceptable use
Please do not use Stashkey to break the law, to attack our systems or other people's, to try to get around plan limits, or to overload the service. We may suspend accounts that do.
Free and paid plans
- The free plan covers use on one device.
- Paid plans such as Sync, Family and Team are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play and follow their payment and refund rules.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel in your store account settings.
- If a paid plan ends, your vault stays on your devices and remains exportable.
- We will give notice before changing prices for existing subscribers.
Availability and changes
We work hard to keep Stashkey running, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change or improve features over time. If we ever shut the service down, we will give reasonable notice so you can export your data.
Open-source components
Parts of Stashkey, including the cryptographic core, are released under open-source licences. Those licences apply to that code alongside these terms.
Disclaimer and limits of liability
Stashkey is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data caused by a lost master password and recovery key, a lost or compromised device, or events outside our control. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded.
Ending your use
You can stop using Stashkey and delete your account at any time from the app. We may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms, and will try to let you export your data first where possible.
Changes to these terms
If we make meaningful changes we will update the effective date and notify account holders by email before they apply.
